“Well, I don’t want do disappoint you. Shall we?” the man lifted up his left arm to her and she smiled and put her hand on his arm.
He began leading her out to the corridor when Ruth stopped him.
“Wait, can’t we go outside instead? It’s such a beautiful garden and I would love to take a closer look at it!” she said.
The man looked down on her.
“What’s with the flowers that attract girls? Flower’s disgusting”
Ruth held herself from drop her jaw in surprise. This man was turning out to be a real handful.
“I beg your pardon?! Flowers are beautiful and girls love beautiful things. Easy as that and I still want to go out. I don’t think that it’s only flowers out there. Perhaps big threes and bushes and green grass” meanwhile she spoke she had eyes fixed on his and she notices a change of colors in them. His eyes had been green and blue now they were almost yellow.
A werewolf?
“Okay then, as you wish, miss” he said and Ruth turned to the French windows and saw Diana stand beside a window to the right. She watched them coming for a few second, then looked away to not awake any suspiciousness.
Ruth went passed her with the man through the door and out on a big balcony where they had a great view over the whole garden and the lake. The balcony had a big stair down to the garden and it looked like it was taken from a fairytale.
There was nearly no wind outside. The air was cold and fresh and Ruth almost didn’t feel nervous anymore.
“Well, look at that” she said when she watched moonlight over the lake. She looked over her shoulder and could see Diana in the corner of her eye when she comes out.
Ruth turned to the man.
“Tell me something, dear. You smell like a dog and I wouldn’t be surprised if you started acting like one too, Mr. Werewolf. What are you doing here in a hall filled with vampires?”
The man looked at her with big eyes and then he started growling.
“Game over, dog” they heard Diana’s voice behind them. The werewolf turned to her and Ruth could see how he started to transform himself.
Diana pulled a knife of silver out of her long gloves and put it fast in the man’s chest before he had time to react.
He gasped and pulled the knife out his chest and staggered backwards to the rail and fell over it. Ruth went up to the rail and looked down. The man lay down in the dark bushes.
“We killed him…” Ruth said almost whispering.
Diana looked up at her and raised her left eyebrow.
“We? I killed him. Don’t think you can share the honor with me, girl”
“Oh really? Who tricked him to go outside if it wasn’t me? You couldn’t have done it without me”
”Yes I could. I could have done it very well indeed without you”
Ruth dropped her jaw. “Excuse me?!”
Diana just laughed and went back inside again with Ruth in tow.
No one seemed to bother the loss of one man in the hall.
“Where can we find lady Moraga? And don’t come with that “I can do it better without you” thing again!”
Diana smiled. “But I do things better without you, dear…”
“See! That’s what I mean. I knew you’d say it again!”
“Yes but you started” Diana said and Ruth was beginning to get frustrated.
Diana laughed and then all suddenly Adriana stood in front of them. Diana stopped laughing and Ruth just starred at her like she had seen a ghost.
“How did it go?” Adriana asked.
“Perfect. He’s lying down under the balcony now. Dead” Diana said like it happened all the time. And well, it’s kind of does because Diana doesn’t mind to kill for fun.
“Good, then I might be able to work with you. Are you ready?”
